AP Government enacted a Endowments Act in 1966. The main objective of Endowment Department is to ensure proper administration of this Institutions and take over their income for which they were established. Andhra Pradesh Endowments Department is to protect the properties of Hindu temples and other Charitable Institution. Temples which are having less than 2 Lakhs of annual income come under administration control of Assistant Commissioner. Temples having more than 2 Lakhs but less than 25 Lakhs of annual income are under administrative control of Deputy Commissioner. Temples having more than 25 Lakhs annual income are under administrative control of Commissioner. The Commissioner is having irrespective administration control of their income in case of Mutts and Dharmadayams.
